i'm thinking about clearing out my acct. here. i don't get much out of DA...never have. i get to see really neat stuff and drool over hopefully buying some when i get a job again, but the stock photos are too restricted to let me use their stuff in my LJ most of the time, which is the only reason i want to use stock. i don't post enough stuff to get much attention. *shrug* i'd rather just share my stuff with folks who are interested.
every year i lament that i missed the best days of spring or fall because being busy when the light is best or just not realizing it until it's too late. rush out and the moment is gone.
well, those seasons are full of change and harder to catch.
this morning i wanted to get out to take pictures of the snowfall in the sunrise...since i was actually awake and thinking about it...but the batteries in my camera were dead.
i've been living in climates with relatively infrequent snowfall or accumulation for a while. most of my life was in the south and it's been unseasonably warm the past couple of winters in the north.
well, i'm visiting and in the process of moving to the "snow belt" in michigan. it's an area the right distance inland from the lake and the right direction for most weather fronts that they get significantly more snow than most other areas near here.
we currently have 6 inches of snow and we will probably have a couple months of standing snow this winter.
my point is, winter is no longer one of those things i have to rush out to. for one thing, we're getting more snow today, so there WASN'T a sunrise, really. it just went from black to gray. also, the snow isn't going anywhere and even if the pretty effect i might want gets blown or melted away, THERE WILL BE MORE!
so, i'm consoling myself that i will have many more opportunities to try to catch the beauty of the snow.

i haven't gotten to go out and collect leaves to press as i've been wanting to do for years now, but i DID get a few pictures of trees with their colors turning. yay! not nearly as cute as pics of my niece's toes, but they'll have to do.
